Fire detection and alarm system monitoring

RES Fire can supply, test and manage fire detection and alarm system monitoring system and equipment.

We work with leading ARC providers (Alarm Receiving Centres) to provide a comprehensive fire alarm monitoring service.

A comprehensive update to BS 9991, the UK’s essential fire safety standard for residential buildings is due to be published by the end of November.

BS 9991:2024 Fire safety in the design, management and use of residential buildings - Code of practice covers a wide range of building types, from apartment blocks and flats to residential care homes.

There are four components to the IPAF Operator Training Course, which include: classroom tutorials, theory assessment, practical training, and practical assessment.

Congratulations to our engineers for passing the training successfully.

A number of our engineers recently undertook training on the use of Mobile Vertical lifts (Scissor Lifts) with Star Platforms in Reading.

Under the BM-Trada scheme, our engineers are regularly assessed on their workmanship as well as providing extensive recording and documentation to support all fire stopping works.

Our Fire Stopping team were recently audited on their ability to ensure buidling gaps and voids are sealed and fire resistant. The team installed three types of Fire Stopping examples for the auditor as shown in the photo below.

RES have successfully passed our ISO9001:2015 audit and re-certification. The certification covers the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting and extinguishing systems, servicing and maintenance of hydrants and risers.

Charlotte from Uptick was our trainer and she covered some basic training for two new trainees, and then more advanced app training for the whole team. As Uptick continually improves, we’ll need to refresh our knowledge from time to time to get the best out of this solution.

In November, we ran an Engineer Uptick App training morning. Uptick is our service and maintenance software.

RES Fire have installed a new Wireless Fire Detection and Alarm System at Melton Court in London.

We have successfully installed over 400 devices throughout this residential property.

Fifty new radio loop modules connect wirelessly to all of the fire safety devices in the building.

The common areas such as the lobby, corridors and stairwells now have new wireless manual call points, as well as wireless multi-detector sounders.

Each flat has wireless heat detectors and wireless smoke detectors with sounders fitted.

Each of the three blocks now has its own dedicated fire alarm panel which are networked to each other.

Johnny Adey TechIFSM

Director of Operations.

Johnny has worked in the fire safety industry for over 22 years having started his career at RES as a trainee fire extinguisher technician. Now as an accomplished and experienced fire protection engineer, Johnny oversees the day to day operations of RES Fire as well as continuing with his previous role as Client Manager.

Still very much wanting to be out on site, Johnny enjoys meeting clients, surveying jobs, completing installations & additional works, often mentoring our trainee engineers in the process.
