Fire rated metal doorsets for SEND School
Installation
Following our customers fire risk assessment, a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities school in Reading, they approached RES Fire for a quotation to install five fire rated metal doorsets for various plant and caretaker locations around the site.
Made to measure
Accurate dimensions were taken by RES for each door and a custom order was put together which specified the door colour, fire rating and any specific order requirements such as louvred panels.
Our chosen supplier was Latham’s, The UK’s leading supplier of steel doors.
Fire rated steel doors expand into their frame under heat, sealing off a room where a fire has broken out to prevent the spread of smoke and flames. They play an important role in emergency fire procedures and can be installed to help your building comply with fire safety legislation.
The doors ordered were specified as FD60: 1 hour fire rated, certified by Warrington – Certifire.
Installation
Our schedule allowed a week for the five doors to be installed during the summer holidays, while the school was closed.
Plant room doors were either single or double metal fire doors, seen here with completed signage, louvres and locks.
The works were completed on time and on budget.
On completion all the doors were carefully documented on our Uptick service and maintenance platform for future reference.
