It is a legal requirement to have a Fire Risk Assessment in place for your  workplace – it is your duty to identify fire risks and and hazards within your premises. For premises with five or more  people you’ll need to keep a written record of your assessment.

Fire extinguishers must be serviced every 12 months.

Fire extinguishers must be inspected and relabelled by a professional every year. RES keep a log of all customer extinguishers and will schedule in your inspection in good time before the expiry.

You are oblidged by law to provide fully functioning fire extinguishers. In order to ensure that your extinguishers are working they need to be serviced annually.RES provide this service for customers.

YES, fire extinguishers can be discharged, pressure tested and then refilled by a fire extinguisher engineer. RES provide this service for customers.

UK fire alarm regulations state that your fire alarm system must be adequately maintained’, however BS 5839 recommends that a fire alarm system should be inspected by a competent person at least every 6 months.

You are oblidged to carry out one fire drill a year to comply with UK Law. A record must be kept.

Your fire alarm should be tested weekly by the responsible person for the company / premises. You should alert staff beforehand of the test and state that it is a fire drill.
